Popular South Korean YouTuber Tzuyang, known for her mukbang videos, will take a historic step by appearing before the National Assembly of South Korea on October 14. Her summons was approved on September 22, 2025, at the request of lawmaker Kim Jang-kyum from the People Power Party, who called for her testimony to clarify the threats she suffered from other YouTubers known as “cyberwreckers”, who profit from exploiting sensational topics.
In July 2024, Tzuyang publicly revealed that she had been a victim of physical and sexual violence for four years at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, who was also the CEO of her agency. Although the investigation against him was dropped after his death, the extortion and threats from other YouTubers remain under investigation. (Korea Times)
Through her testimony, Tzuyang aims not only to expose her personal case but also to push for measures that protect content creators and all individuals vulnerable to abuse and extortion in the digital space. Her intervention is expected to become a landmark moment in the fight against online harassment in South Korea.
